Dhaka, March 7 -- Four people have been arrested in Chattogram on charges of kidnapping a garment factory official and extorting his family for ransom by posing as representatives of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement.

They were taken into custody on Thursday evening after a raid in the Kattali and CDA residential neighbourhoods of Akbar Shah Thana.

The kidnappers were identified as Nazmul Abedin, 22, Naimul Amin Imon, 22, Arafat Hossain Fahim, 22, and Risti Bin Yusuf, 23.

According to a press release from the police, the group abducted Pacific Jeans official Abedin Al Mamun and his personal driver from his residence in the CDA residential area on Thursday night to demand a ransom.
