Dhaka, Jan. 26 -- Crude bombs have allegedly been hurled at an election rally of BNP candidate Ershad Ullah in the Chattogram-8 constituency, with a party leader blaming the Jamaat-e-Islami for the attack.

Five people threw improvised explosives in quick succession at the rally in Boalkhali Upazila on Monday evening before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported.

Md Azizul Haque, joint convenor of Ershad's election management committee, told bdnews24.com that the attack occurred during a rally near East Kadhurkhil High School grounds.

Blaming the Jamaat-e-Islami, he said: "A local Jamaat worker named Erfan led five or six people to hurl the bombs. They later fled when chased by BNP activists."
