New Delhi, Aug. 5 -- VinFast has set up its first Indian manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, marking a major step in its entry into the country's electric vehicle market. The plant will support the launch of the VF7 SUV during the upcoming festive season, which will be the company's first EV offering in India. This move is part of VinFast's larger plan to invest in and grow within the Indian automotive sector.

The Thoothukudi facility began operations on 4 August 2025. Spanning 400 acres in the SIPCOT State Industrial Park, it has an annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh vehicles. The plant is expected to create around 3,500 jobs, contributing to local employment and strengthening VinFast's manufacturing base.
