India, Sept. 12 -- The upcoming festive season will be more exciting for car buyers in India, as the Government has introduced a new GST regime that lowers taxes across segments. While small cars now attract a flat 18% GST, down from the earlier 28% plus cess. Meanwhile, mid-size cars, large cars, and SUVs, which were previously taxed at 28% GST plus up to 22% cess, now fall under a simplified 40% GST rate with no additional cess. Do note that the benefits vary based on specific criteria such as vehicle length and engine capacity.
