BARPETA, June 25 -- In a daring daylight robbery, five lakh rupees were snatched away from a person in the heart of the town this noon. According to information, Kashinath Deka, a retired employee of PWD Assam and a resident of Byaskuchi in Barpeta district came out of the State Bank of India's Bazar branch here after withdrawing five lakh rupees. He carried the amount in a bag in his hand. As he was about to start his motorcycle along with one of his friends, a young lad snatched the bag and escaped from the spot on a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle without any registration mark. He moved towards the east direction so swiftly that it was not possible for them to follow.
