Washington, Jan. 11 -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will be in Sri Lanka on January 14 on a working visit.

On January 14 Lavrov, who is fluent in Sinhala language, and extremely knowledgeable about Sri Lanka will meet with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. He is also scheduled to hold talks with Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said "They plan to discuss the current state of relations between Russia and Sri Lanka, the prospects for promoting political dialogue, developing cooperation in the trade-economic, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as to discuss expanding the bilateral treaty and legal basis.
