New Delhi, June 30 -- : The Indian Air Force (IAF) has successfully designed and developed an Airborne Locust Control System on Mi-17 helicopters for tackling the locust attacks.

The machine developed by the Air Force can help in spraying pesticides over 750 hectares of land in one mission, said the Indian Air Force.

"Anticipating Locust attack, Ministry of Agriculture signed a contract with M/s Micron, UK to modify two Mi-17 Helicopters for spraying atomized pesticide to arrest Locust breeding in May 2020.
