Samarinda, Aug. 31 -- The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, in collaboration with Commission X of the House of Representatives, is promoting a program to preserve mother tongues by empowering young writers and literacy communities in East Kalimantan.

"This initiative is a strategic effort to prevent the extinction of local languages, which are part of the nation's identity and cultural heritage," said Head of the Language Development and Fostering Agency at the Ministry, Hafidz Muksin, in Samarinda on Sunday.

He explained that revitalization programs are a key priority in East Kalimantan, with preservation efforts implemented through concrete activities such as the Mother Tongue Buds Festival (FTBI).
