Jakarta, June 22 -- The Indonesian Consumers Foundation (YLKI) has called to speed up the ratification of the Smoke-Free Zone Regional Regulation in Jakarta.

"YLKI urges that the Smoke-Free Zone regional regulation, which is currently being drafted by a special committee, be ratified in 2025, considering it has been under discussion for quite some time without being passed," YLKI Chairperson Niti Emiliana said in a statement here on Sunday.

She highlighted that Jakarta, as a metropolitan city without a Smoke-Free Zone regulation, has fallen short in consumer protection, especially in safeguarding public health from the dangers of secondhand smoke.
