Padang, West Sumatra, Dec. 3 -- West Sumatra will work with the central government to accelerate the repair of infrastructure damaged by recent floods and landslides, Governor Mahyeldi said on Wednesday.
"Bridges, houses, roads, and other damaged infrastructure will, God willing, be handled together," he said.
He noted that the recovery plan aligns with directives from President Prabowo Subianto, who visited flood-hit areas in Padang Pariaman on December 1, emphasizing joint efforts to expedite disaster handling.
Mahyeldi said provincial and local governments cannot shoulder the recovery alone, given the scale and severity of the damage, and stressed the need for coordinated action.
