Meulaboh, Aceh, July 16 -- The West Aceh district administration in Aceh Province has planted one thousand pine and Terminalia catappa (Ketapang) trees along Meulaboh Beach in the local area to help prevent coastal abrasion.

"This tree planting is also in commemoration of World Environment Day," Bukhari, Head of the West Aceh Environment and Sanitation Agency, stated on Wednesday.

He remarked that the one thousand ketapang and pine trees planted along Batee Puteh Beach in Meulaboh will be cared for until they reach maturity.

This effort will help keep the coastal area cool and protect it from coastal erosion, which has become a growing concern for the community.
