Padang, Sept. 11 -- Indonesia's Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga) said Thursday that universities must play a key role in carrying out the nation's long-term population development strategy.

Budi Setiyono, secretary-general of the ministry, told the 2025 National Population Symposium at Padang State University in West Sumatra that the "grand design" of population development will be implemented through a staged roadmap.

"Universities have an obligation to implement this roadmap alongside provincial, district and city governments," Setiyono said.
