Depok, West Java, Feb. 23 -- A team of University of Indonesia (UI) students has developed RunSight, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based wearable device designed to help people with visual impairments run safely and independently.
The device, a pair of smart glasses, was created by the Labmino UI team, comprising Muhammad Fazil Tirtana, Kaindra Rizq Sachio, Anthony Edbert Feriyanto, and Ariq Maulana Malik Ibrahim, all computer science students.
"This device must be lightweight and energy-efficient. The main goal is to expand inclusive access to sports for people with visual impairments," Feriyanto said in a statement on Monday.
The idea emerged from a friend who enjoys exercising but has cataracts and struggles to see track lines.
