Temanggung, C Java, May 4 -- A total of 129 children had applied at a tuition-free school, established under the Indonesian government's Sekolah Rakyat (Community Schools) national program, in Temanggung District, Central Java, until the registration period ended on April 30, 2025.

However, according to Dewi Suhartini, head of the Social Affairs Ministry's Kartini Integrated Center which provides the site for the Sekolah Rakyat's operation, only 100 of the registered candidates would be admitted.

"Our initial plan was to admit 50 pupils, but Mr. President (Prabowo Subianto) has ordered the number to be doubled. Therefore, we decided to receive 100 pupils this year," she said in Temanggung on Sunday.
