Indonesia, Nov. 28 -- Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) is evaluating transmigration area development in Sorong, Southwest Papua, with a focus on strengthening the agricultural and livestock sectors to reduce Indonesia's dependence on food imports.

ITB lecturer and Head of the Tourism Development and Planning Program, Alhilal Furqan, said here on Friday that the evaluation process, part of a program initiated by the Ministry of Transmigration, aligns with President Prabowo's AstaCita missions, which places food security as a priority agenda.

"This step is also a strategic step to reduce Indonesia's dependence on food imports by strengthening agriculture and livestock sectors in the regions," he said.
