Jakarta, May 13 -- A member of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Amelia Anggraini, has called on the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to ensure that the disposal of unserviceable ammunition is conducted in areas free of civilian presence.
She referenced the recent incident in Garut, West Java, where an explosion during ammunition disposal resulted in the deaths of four TNI personnel and nine civilians.
"This practice is highly dangerous and could trigger subsequent explosions, as is suspected to have occurred in the Garut incident," she said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
