Manokwari, Sept. 19 -- PT Telkom Indonesia is working to restore telecommunications services in Nabire, Central Papua, following a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that struck in the early hours of Friday, causing a total network outage.
Head of Telkom Nabire, Suhendar, reported from Manokwari on Friday that the communication network was severed, likely due to cable damage at several points, including the Nabire-Rasiei, Serui-Botawa, and Timika-Tigi land routes, located approximately 80 kilometers from Mimika.
"All Telkomsel internet, IndiHome, voice, and SMS services are currently down. Residents must rely on satellite-based services to stay connected," Suhendar said.
