Jakarta, Sept. 1 -- The community of Tanah Abang in Central Jakarta held a peace declaration on Monday, vowing to protect the city from vandals and anarchists who have caused recent unrest.

Hundreds of Tanah Abang residents gathered at Bunderan HI in Central Jakarta on Monday to sign a peace declaration, condemning recent acts of anarchy and calling for an end to the violence.

Head of Rumah Guyub Tenabang, Heru, said that the peace declaration aims to protect Jakarta from anarchists who have infiltrated the protesters.

"This declaration reflects Tanah Abang community's concern and this is our resistance," he said.
