Indonesia, Sept. 6 -- A Sumatran tiger attacked a 45-year-old farmer, Amir, in South Bukit Barisan National Park, West Lampung, on Friday afternoon, officials said Saturday.
Amir, from Tiga Jaya Village, Sekicau Sub-district, was walking home with his son when the tiger struck from behind, said village head Subandi.
The tiger bit Amir's head and knocking both to the ground. His screams scared the animal off, and nearby residents rushed him to a health center, Subandi said.
"He suffered deep head and back wounds and needed nearly 20 stitches," said Indra, a health worker. "He's now in stable condition."
Following the incident, the village head urged residents to avoid farming alone and remain alert.
