Jakarta, Dec. 9 -- The government estimates that post-disaster recovery in North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh will exceed Rp50 trillion (approximately US$2.99 billion).

Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) told reporters here on Tuesday that the figure is still provisional as conditions on the ground continue to evolve.

"I was in contact with the Minister of Public Works just yesterday. The initial calculation places the required budget at more than Rp50 trillion. This is an early estimate and cannot be considered final, as the situation is still developing," he said.
