Tangerang, June 29 -- A Batik Air flight survived a near miss at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, after a strong wind tipped the aircraft to its side, causing its wing to almost hit the runway while landing on Saturday afternoon.

According to Batik Air Corporate Communications Strategic Officer Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the Boeing 737 with registration number PK-LDJ landed at the airport during a downpour.

While approaching the runway, a strong crosswind blew the aircraft and tipped it to its side, he said, adding that the wind speed increased while the wind direction remained.

"Nonetheless, the aircraft landed safely and all flight procedures were followed," he stated in a written statement on Sunday.
