Natuna, Riau Islands, Jan. 14 -- That one morning during the first week of January 2026 was slightly different from the usual mornings in Sebadai Ulu Village, Natuna, Riau Islands. An open-sided tent stood slightly tilted, sheltering people of various backgrounds, from officials to farmers.

That morning, Sebadai Ulu was preparing to record a small but meaningful piece of history: the inaugural harvest of upland rice (padi gogo), marking the first time in decades that rice had been cultivated in the village, which is part of the Bunguran Timur Laut Sub-district.
