Jakarta, June 28 -- PT Pertamina International Exploration and Production (PIEP) announced on Friday that seven employees, evacuated from Basra, Iraq, due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, arrived safely in Jakarta on June 23.
These Indonesian workers, employed by a subsidiary of the Indonesian energy giant Pertamina at the West Qurna 1 oil field, about 65 km northwest of Basra, were gradually evacuated by car to Kuwait on June 19.
"They were then flown back home and arrived safely in Jakarta on June 23," PIEP's Acting President Director, Julius Wiratno, noted in a press statement received in Jakarta on Friday.
