Jakarta, June 13 -- Indonesia has a renewable energy potential of 3,700 gigawatts (GW), but the current installed capacity is only about 15 GW, according to Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Perkasa Roeslani.

"Hence, less than one percent has been installed," he remarked at the 2025 International Conference on Infrastructure (ICI) in Jakarta on Thursday (June 12).

Renewable energy sources include solar power, hydropower, biomass, and geothermal, with geothermal offering the greatest potential, most of which is in Java and Sumatra.

Geothermal is seen as a highly attractive investment, as Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest geothermal reserves in the world, though this resource has not yet been optimally utilized...
