Jakarta, July 19 -- The National Commission on Violence against Women ( Komnas Perempuan ) has highlighted the need to incorporate the rights of women in conflict with the law in the draft Code of Criminal Procedure (RKUHAP).

"The rights cover women's position as victims, witnesses, suspects, defendants, and convicts," chair of Komnas Perempuan , Maria Ulfah Anshor, said in Jakarta on Saturday.

According to Anshor, the existing criminal procedure code offers no protection for the rights of women in conflict with the law, including provisions to fulfill gender-specific needs.
