Pekanbaru, Riau, June 27 -- Thirty-four former members of the terror group Anshor Daulah (AD) renounced terrorism and reaffirmed their loyalty to the Republic of Indonesia in Riau on Friday.
According to the deputy chief of the Indonesian Police's counter-terror squad Special Detachment 88, Brigadier General I Made Astawa, the pledge marks a complete break from their past as members of the terror organization.
"Their renouncement and subsequent loyalty pledge is part of their recovery and transformation to once again stand on their own feet for the Republic of Indonesia and its ideology," Astawa said.
