Jakarta, July 29 -- The latest tariff deal with the United States has provided major relief to Indonesia's labor-intensive industries, especially the textile sector, which was facing serious economic and job losses under the original 32 percent tariff, an official said.
At the Bisnis Indonesia Mid-year Challenges 2025 event here on Tuesday, Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs Susiwijono Moegiarso noted that under the new arrangement, the US has lowered import tariffs on Indonesian products from 32 percent to 19 percent.
The deal is expected to save around 3 million jobs in the textile industry.
