Jakarta, April 29 -- Indonesia's Foreign Minister Sugiono has emphasized that BRICS must take a more active and constructive approach in pushing for peace and defending multilateral norms.

"BRICS must be at the forefront in defending international laws that should be enforced fairly and consistent with no double standard. No one should be above the law," the minister said during the first session of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting (FMM) on Monday.

The meeting took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
