Jakarta, Nov. 26 -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has ordered three major measures to improve athlete welfare, including scholarships, public-service career pathways and a revised bonus scheme for regional and international games, Sports Minister Erick Thohir said on Wednesday.

"First, the president instructed us to finalize athlete scholarship allocations," Thohir said, outlining the government's effort to strengthen long-term athlete development.

The second directive, he said, concerns opening career opportunities for high-performing athletes to serve in the public sector after retirement from competition.
