Jakarta, Oct. 17 -- National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo inaugurated 32 police-run nutrition service units and broke ground for 27 more on Friday as part of efforts to expand the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.

All of the new and planned kitchens are managed by the Central Java Regional Police, Prabowo said in a statement.

"Today's groundbreaking and inauguration bring the total number of police-run kitchens in Central Java to 100, the highest nationwide," he said.

The 32 newly opened kitchens are expected to serve nutritious meals to 97,622 beneficiaries and provide jobs for 1,541 workers, he added.
