Jakarta, Sept. 4 -- Indonesia will positively respond to the "17+8 People's Demands" raised during recent demonstrations across Jakarta and other regions, Coordinating Minister for Legal, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said.

"As these demands come from the people, the government, mandated by the people, must respond accordingly. It cannot ignore their aspirations," he said in Jakarta on Thursday.

On legal and human rights issues under his purview, Yusril pledged that the government will enforce the law fairly, transparently, and with full respect for human rights.
