Jakarta, April 25 -- Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Minister Maman Abdurrahman has advised banks disbursing low-interest People's Business Credit (KUR) to form a support team for MSMEs to reduce non-performing loans (NPL).

During a KUR financing cooperation signing in Jakarta on Friday, he said banks disbursing KUR can emulate the success of state-run microlender Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), which has managed to keep its NPL rate below one percent.

According to Abdurrahman, one of the measures taken by PNM to achieve this was forming a support team.

He also asked the 46 banks that disburse KUR to follow the PNM's step of allocating a small portion of profits for operational costs for assisting MSMEs.
