Jakarta, Oct. 17 -- The Indonesian government will follow up on a Constitutional Court ruling requiring the formation of an independent body to oversee the state civil apparatus (ASN), a senior official said Friday.

"We always respect Constitutional Court decisions. Once we receive the official ruling, we will review and act on it," State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi told reporters.

The ruling, issued Thursday, mandates the government and the House of Representatives to establish the oversight body within two years. It will monitor the implementation of the merit system and the conduct of ASN officers.

Hadi said the court's decision aligns with the government's goal of maintaining a professional and accountable civil service.
