Jakarta, Jan. 31 -- Indonesia is fast-tracking permanent homes for communities hit by floods and landslides in North Sumatra while expanding temporary shelters for residents displaced by disasters.

The Presidential Media Team said on Friday that projects are underway in North Tapanuli and South Tapanuli districts, prioritizing areas most affected by floods and landslides.

In Dolok Nauli village, Adian Koting Sub-district, North Tapanuli, permanent housing foundations have begun in Simate Mate hamlet on land donated by the district government.

A total of 103 permanent houses will be built on more than two hectares, supported by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas, the Presidential Media Team said.
