Jakarta, Dec. 2 -- The Indonesian government has reopened two vital routes in North Sumatra, accelerating deliveries of aid to communities cut off by floods and landslides, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said on Tuesday.
BNPB Spokesperson Abdul Muhari said coordinated work between national and local authorities had restored the Tarutung-Padang Sidempuan corridor, previously blocked by heavy debris, improving access for residents and relief teams.
He said field observations on Monday showed heavy machinery clearing a 12-kilometer stretch from Bupayung Hamlet in Luat Lombang Village, Sipirok District, to Batu Jomba, a section heavily impacted by the landslides.
