Jakarta, June 26 -- Immigration and Corrections Minister Agus Andrianto announced a plan to increase the number of correctional officers in preparation for the implementation of the new Criminal Code (KUHP), set to take effect on January 2, 2026.

"We will continue to coordinate with the National Civil Service Agency and the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform," Andrianto remarked during the launch of the "2025 Social Action Movement for Correctional Clients" here on Thursday.

He explained that the responsibilities of correctional officers will expand significantly under the new KUHP. Therefore, he emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive training for these officers.
