Jakarta, Dec. 4 -- The Indonesian government is accelerating efforts to restore villages devastated by flooding and landslides across Sumatra, the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions said Thursday.

Minister Yandri Susanto told reporters that the move follows President Prabowo Subianto's directive to mobilize all available resources for post-disaster recovery.

"We will prepare plans to rebuild villages that were lost or heavily to moderately damaged as quickly as possible," he said.

He said the recovery program will include repairs to village offices, homes and integrated health posts, or posyandu, which provide basic services to rural communities.
