Jakarta, Oct. 15 -- The Indonesian government has issued a new regulation mandating the use of eco-friendly technologies to turn urban waste into renewable energy, part of efforts to tackle growing pollution and health concerns in major cities.
President Prabowo Subianto signed Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2025 on October 10. A copy of which was received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The regulation, comprising eight chapters and 33 articles, outlines the government's strategy to manage waste sustainably while promoting clean energy production.
Chapter two of the regulation highlights the need to address environmental and public health issues caused by rising volumes of waste in urban areas.
