Jakarta, Sept. 17 -- Indonesia's Environment Ministry said Wednesday it is conducting an environmental audit of PT Gag Nikel, which recently resumed operations in Raja Ampat, Southwest Papua, to ensure the company complies with environmental regulations.
Deputy for Environmental Law Enforcement of the Ministry of Environment/Bureau of Environmental Control Rizal Irawan explained that the audit serves as an initial step to determine the monitoring mechanism for the mining company operating on a small island with a fragile ecosystem.
