Jakarta, Sept. 2 -- Indonesia's government has allocated 52,400 tons of corn under the Food Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) program to support layer farmers and help stabilize egg and poultry prices, the head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Arief Prasetyo Adi, said on Monday.
"The SPHP program will distribute 52,400 tons of corn to layer farmers across Indonesia," Arief said in Jakarta.
The corn will be sourced from government reserves (CHP) managed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and sold at Rp5,500 (around USD0.36) per kilogram to ensure affordable feed for farmers.
Lower feed prices are expected to cut production costs and help stabilize retail egg prices through the end of the year, he added.
