Jakarta, May 2 -- Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Puan Maharani has called on the government and business sector to pay particular attention to the welfare of female workers in Indonesia.

She made the call in the framework of the International Workers' Day 2025 event, noting that female workers often face the dual burden of being the backbone of their families as well as household managers.

"The government and the business world must create safe, humane, and inclusive workplaces, including for working mothers," she said in a statement received here on Friday.
