Jakarta, Dec. 1 -- Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian urged regional governments to immediately take anticipatory measures against disasters and bolster preparedness ahead of the Christmas and New Year 2026 holiday season.

"These require synergy and cannot be addressed individually," he said in a coordination meeting on anticipation ahead of Christmas and New Year holidays in Jakarta on Monday.

He asserted that in the last three weeks, major landslides and flash floods struck Central Java, Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, thereby prompting mitigation efforts by regional governments to prevent casualties.
