Jakarta, Feb. 17 -- Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian has appealed to regional governments to prepare anticipatory measures to handle the surge in homebound travelers ahead of this year's Eid al-Fitr.

This has been deemed necessary since each region has its own challenges related to the Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus flow.

"The challenges to mobility, be it for land, sea, and air (travel), vary from one region to another," he said in a statement released here on Monday.

He outlined the challenges each region will need to address to deal with the homecoming flow. For example, Java, Sumatra, Bali, and Sulawesi will need to focus on handling the homecoming flow on land routes.
