Denpasar, Bali, June 15 -- The cross-country expansion of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) payment system to China and Japan will help bolster tourism in Bali Island, according to a Bank Indonesia (BI) official.
"Bali is a tourism icon. With digitalisation, the quality of Bali tourism will increase," Deputy of BI Representative Office in Bali, Butet Linda Helena Pandjaitan, stated on Sunday.
Enabling QRIS access to the two countries will greatly help Chinese and Japanese tourists in Bali, as they no longer need to exchange physical banknotes to pay, the BI official said.
