Jakarta, June 20 -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has highlighted the positive trajectory of economic relations between Indonesia and Russia, citing a 40 percent increase in bilateral trade during the first four months of 2025.

"Last year, trade volume between our two countries reached US$4.3 billion. In the first four months of this year alone, trade has grown by 40 percent," Putin said during a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the Constantine Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Thursday.

He noted that the increasingly favorable trade balance reflects Indonesia's growing role as one of Russia's key trading partners in Southeast Asia.
