Jakarta, Dec. 24 -- Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani on Wednesday extended Christmas greetings to Christians nationwide and urged Indonesians to mark the New Year with empathy and restraint, as a series of natural disasters continue to affect communities across the country.
Puan said she hoped Christmas celebrations in 2025 would proceed safely and peacefully in all regions, while also strengthening the spirit of brotherhood, solidarity and mutual care among Indonesians of different faiths and backgrounds.
She emphasized that religious celebrations should reinforce shared humanitarian values, especially during times of hardship.
