Jakarta, Dec. 2 -- Indonesia's state rail operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) is working to restore rail lines across northern Sumatra after severe floods and landslides cut multiple sections of track, a senior official said on Tuesday.
KAI Executive Vice President for Marketing and Business Development Krisna Arianto said repairs are being carried out by teams from the company's North Sumatra regional division and its Aceh subdivision.
Speaking after dispatching an inspection train for the year-end holiday period at Jakarta's Gambir Station, he said parts of the Medan-Binjai line were among the worst affected.
