Yogyakarta, April 21 -- Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq has emphasized the need to include provisions to protect karst areas in regional environmental policies, especially to maintain the balance of nature.
"The flood that occurred at the end of March (2025) must be a warning. Karst is not just a rock -- it stores water, supports daily life, and reflects the balance of nature," the minister said in a statement released on Monday.
He reviewed the implementation of environmental restoration in the Gunung Sewu Gunungkidul karst ecosystem area in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
