Jakarta, Nov. 17 -- President Prabowo Subianto on Monday announced a plan to replace traditional pedicabs across Indonesia with electric motorcycles, as part of a wider push to modernize transport and support the country's industrial goals.
Speaking at the launch of a digital learning initiative at a junior high school in Bekasi, West Java, he said the government would launch a programme to ensure all pedicabs eventually run on electric motorbikes.
Prabowo also said the government intended to cap the age of pedicab drivers at 70, instructing ministers to draft measures to enforce the rule.
