Jakarta, Jan. 22 -- President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the formation of a study team to analyze and draft a grand design for addressing flooding across Java, following heavy rainfall that has triggered floods in several regions, including Jakarta.

State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said the president had instructed the government to immediately establish a team to examine water management challenges and formulate a comprehensive flood mitigation plan for the island.

He acknowledged that flooding has long been a recurring problem in Indonesia and stressed the importance of integrated solutions that address water management from upstream to downstream.
